Project Here is an innovative public-private collaboration to make substance use prevention education available to every public middle school in Massachusetts. Through integrated in-classroom and digital learning experiences, Project Here educates young people about the risks and consequences of using and experimenting with substances, empowers them to help others, and gives them the tools they need to make healthy decisions.
In recent years, Massachusetts has seen an exponential increase in opioid-related overdoses and people seeking substance use treatment due to the use of prescription painkillers, fentanyl, and heroin. A critical component of addressing this public health epidemic is expanding prevention resources to protect our young people. Research shows that schools, parents, and communities can work together to reduce the likelihood that young people will experiment with drugs and alcohol.
Project Here gives every public middle school in Massachusetts access to research-based educational materials that reinforce healthy decision-making and educate young people about substance use.
